Just in time for the Christmas holidays, Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) organized a gift-giving event to selected Indigenous Peoples (IP) and Project Affected Families (PAF) in the town of Calinog, Iloilo.

On December 10, 2021, a team from the JRMP Project Management Office (PMO) took an early trip to Calinog loaded with packed gifts ready for distribution at the Parish Hall of the town where the recipients are waiting.

Pre-packed gifts were mainly filled with grocery items used daily and at the same time for their Christmas celebration. It was a simple gesture of giving back to the community as the project is now on its construction stage and expected to be completed in two years’ time.

Moreover, said gift-giving event was conducted in time for the nationwide bloodletting and outreach program of National Irrigation Administration simultaneously done in all NIA offices and is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of the irrigation agency.

During the said event, happiness and gratefulness were evident in the faces of the recipient. Ms. Ruth Cely M. Jamelo, Division Manager for Institutional Development, Engineer Gwendolyn Mae Velasco, Acting Division Manager for Construction Management, and Attorney Michael Margarico, Technical Consultant for Legal, led the distribution of gifts to the selected recipients.

Engineer Jonel B. Borres, the Acting Project Manager of the JRMP II, delivered his message to the beneficiaries of the event through a recorded video because he was in the Central Office during the activity. He emphasized the importance of sharing in the Christmas season as well as expressed his appreciation to the stakeholders in their support to the project.

JRMP II is always expressing the message of working hand in hand with the stakeholders living to the tagline of Katuwang sa Kauswagan. /JP Flordalie Padillo
