JRMPipol is recognized as Regional Best Newsletter once again! For three consecutive years, the official newsletter of the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) is awarded as one of the Best Regional Newsletters by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 6. The announcement came during the Annual Information Officers’ Conference and Awards on December 12, 2018 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
JRMPipol bagged 4th place while the project flyer got the 3rd place for Special Publication category. Participating offices are National Government Agencies (NGA) and Local Government Units (LGU) from the six (6) provinces of Western Visayas.
Said awards were received by the Public Relations Staff / IEC Team of JRMP II.
Ms. Venus Sarmiento, OIC Regional Head of PIA Region 8 represented Director General Harold Clavite during the said conference and awards. On Clavite’s message read by Ms. Sarmiento, he emphasized the importance of the event in uniting agencies and LGUs in sharing good practices and information dissemination.
“We want you to know that what you do for your country, however, little you might think it is, would not go unacknowledged. We want you to know that at every step, the government’s primary information arm is at your back, and that we will help you gain more strides in your field as you help our people make informed decisions everyday”, Clavite said.
The conference and awards is an annual event of PIA Region 6 to promote fellowship and information-sharing opportunities among information officers and public relations staff of all government agencies and LGUs. It was also to recognize the efforts of information offices and their publications in developing, promoting and maintaining the good image of the agencies and their programs.
Printing and distribution of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials is one of the strategies of National Irrigation Administration (NIA) in letting the stakeholders know about its activities, programs and projects. For JRMP II, information dissemination is vital for the awareness of the project stakeholders especially the Project Affected Families (PAFs) on the importance, benefits and effects of the project.
JRMPipol is an 8-page newsletter published quarterly which showcases the activities and milestones of the project as well as stories of those involved in the implementation and the beneficiaries. /JP Flordalie Pagente
