The Project Management Office (PMO) of the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) celebrated another feat before 2021 ends.
The Philippine Information Agency Region VI (PIA 6) hailed Steve Cordero, designated spokesperson, and the JRMPipol News Magazine as winners in this year’s search for Best Performing Information Officers (IO) and Best Agency Publication – Magazine Category, respectively.
This recognition was announced during the virtual 2021 Information Officers’ Year-end Conference and Awards.
Cordero is the Leader of the Public Relations (PR) Team and is one of the many young professionals who are an asset to the implementation of this important development project.
Under his leadership, the PR Team has been on the top of information and communication campaigns on ground, on air and on the web to ensure that stakeholders are well-informed of the project’s development.
His exemplary performance as Information Officer and Social Safeguards worker is highlighted in his initiative and involvement as Focal Person of the JRMP II IP Housing Project/Resettlement Site which is currently on implementation stage for the benefit of affected IP families.
Through his dedication, the partnership between the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) was forged which led to the realization of the JRMP II IP Housing Project with counterpart fund from the latter in the amount of 20 million pesos.
The Best Performing IO award is conferred to IOs performing information, education and communications work, media relations and advocacy campaigns, and aims to encourage sharing of good practices and collaboration among agencies.
For this year, PIA 6 said that there was a total of 14 entries for this category from all over the region, but seven IOs were selected to receive this award.
Meanwhile, on its inaugural attempt to the Best Magazine Category, the JRMPipol – the Official News Magazine of JRMP II, delivered the silver medal to the PMO.
From a newsletter, which was hailed by the PIA 6 as a Hall Fame best newsletter in the region, the JRMPipol has metamorphosed into a News Magazine this year purposely to cover more stories, show more photos, and add more colors to the stories featured in the publication, ultimately to bridge communication gaps among the project implementer and its stakeholders especially during this time of the pandemic.
The Best Agency Publication award is open to all in-house publications of agencies, Local Government Units, bureaus, and departments of the Government that are members of the association of information officers in Western Visayas.
This award recognizes the role of print publications as an effective tool of public information and the tremendous efforts exerted by the staff to produce these publications.
JRMP II Acting Project Manager Jonel B. Borres expressed his gratitude to PIA 6 for these recognitions because these will inspire the men and women of the project to work harder and smarter as the completion of JRMP II nears.
He also lauded the efforts of the JRMP II PR and IEC Team under the Leadership of Mr. Cordero and Mrs. Flordalie Padillo, Information Officer. /JP
