A former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff assumed the highest position in National Irrigation Administration (NIA).
General Ricardo Ramoran Visaya (Ret.), was appointed as the new NIA Administrator during the Regular NIA Board Meeting on March 28, 2017. A member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Matikas” Class of 1983,the new chief is a native of Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
Administrator Visaya served sterling years in the infantry and intelligence units of the Philippine Army. In fact, he received the Distinguished Service Star from President Gloria M. Arroyo in 2006.
On his appointment as the new chief of the irrigation agency, Administrator Visaya assured that he has the experience and is willing to learn the ropes of managing NIA. He guarantee focus on increasing the rice production of farmers through developing sustainable irrigation systems in the country. Moreover, one of his management goals is to uplift the morale and well-being of NIA employees.
