Advent Recollection

Christmas, the most celebrated holiday of the year, is observed as jubilation of the birth of Christ. In the country, it is both solemn and festive occasion. We have this so-called Christmas rush in which people are busy with parties, shopping and even race for submissionof year-end reports in offices.

Employees of Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project Stage II (JRMP II) were also on Christmas rush. Yet, some found time to momentarily pause and be spiritually nourished through an Advent Recollection at St. Teresa Prayer Center on December 22, 2017. It was given by the renowned priest, musician, author and speaker, Fr. Joel Rojo Eslabra.

In Fr. Eslabra’s talk, he reminded everyone about God being present to us in the mystery of Christmas and the call of being present to one another. He quoted, “the basic element of all relationships is PRESENCE. Our presence is the best thing we can offer or share to our family, to provide is not enough, you need to be present”.

As the participants share their realizations in the talk, they expressed how they were profoundly touched by the importance of bring present to their loved ones. Moreover, they said that the recollection was an enriching experience that lighten up their load, strengthened their faith and renewed their spirit.

To cap the activity, the participants had confession and attended the celebration of the Holy Mass. Others also prayed before the Blessed Sacrament.

The objectives of the advent recollection were spiritual preparation before the celebration of Christmas by getting to know more about God’s personal love for His children, being able to encounter the Lord and experience personal conversion which will eventually impact their lives. /JP Sr. Florenda Espedido
